Agriculture
The agricultural industry in Canada and the United States is an important client group to StelCrete as farm operations adjust to accommodate new environmental legislation impacting farm operations. Swine, beef and dairy operations are making greater use of precast concrete structures than ever before. Aging barns are being replaced with concrete structures, and new barns are able to realize modern benefits of building with concrete. Reinforced concrete is commonly used in poured interior and exterior flatwork as well as cast-in-place walls. Reinforcement for on-the-ground slabs, feed bunks, slats, above-ground bunkers, manure tanks, beams, columns, footings, and foundation walls is available at StelCrete.
Historically feedlots and waste management structures were predominately poured-in-place concrete, however, with the advent of modern precast technology these structures are now made from precast concrete components that use pre-assembled reinforcing. Such agriculture facilities are durable and resist attack by water, animal manures, chemicals such as fertilizers, and fire. Reinforced concrete structures used in agriculture require the ability to withstand weathering, wetting, temperature changes, and abrasive uses. StelCrete's reinforcing products are designed to meet these harsh environments.
Animal waste generally means livestock manure or other materials such as bedding, milk house waste, soil, hair, feathers, egg shells, and debris normally included in animal waste handling operations. StelCrete supplies reinforcing products to accommodate animal waste management and the construction of feedlots on farms and zoos.
StelCrete engineers would also work with agribusiness to provide special reinforcing products for such facilities as picket dams for handling manure.
